A 5K, 10K and half marathon will be among the offerings at an annual celebration of running in Truckee this weekend.

The Truckee Running Festival returns to River View Sports Park on Saturday morning.

The 5K and 10K routes follow the Legacy Trail along the Truckee River, while the half marathon features the scenic trails of Waddle Ranch. Shorter distance kids races are also included as part of the festival.

The 5K is a fundraiser for the Girls on the Run Sierras, which seeks to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through a curriculum that includes running.

Check-in for the festival begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, with races and a Salomon trail-running shoe demo starting at 8 a.m.

Registration starts at $11 for the kids races and $30 for the longer distance races.
