Truckee Ski Team caps successful season

Jillian Ferre and Wulfe Retzlaff led a contingent of more than 350 Truckee Ski Team racers at the Tahoe Ski League Championships last weekend at Sugar Bowl.Ferre finished first in the Girls 7/8 division and second place in the giant slalom, while Retzlaff took second in giant slalom in the Boys 9/10 division.Hannah Halvorsen finished third in the Girls 11/12 giant slalom and Peter Carroll raced to a seventh in the Boys 11/12 GS. Also placing in the top 15 were Maya Willis, who took 15th in the Girls 9/10 slalom, Logan McGlothlan, who finished ninth in the Boys 9/10 Slalom, and Nicole Shindler, who took fourth in the 15-18 Girls Slalom.Eight Truckee Ski Team racers finished in the top 15 for season point totals.Retzlaff finished the season in third place in the Boys 11/12 division, Halvorsen was 10th in the Girls 11/12 and Meridian Donovan took 14th in the same division. Shindler ended the season ninth place overall and Ferre was 15th. Cheyenne Brownandamp;#8217;s first season of ski racing ended with a 13th-place overall finish in the Girls 9/10, and Alex Vasquez and Gabe Pascali finished 11th and 12th, respectively, in the Boys 13/14 Division.The Truckee Ski Team operates through the Truckee-Donner Recreation andamp; Park District and is touted as program where local skiers can compete at an advanced level at an affordable price.andamp;#8212; This story was e-mailed to Sports Editor Sylas Wright at swright@sierrasun.com.
