Truckee soccer | Boys undefeated in league play
So far, so good for the Truckee boys soccer team.
Despite a couple of key absences on their roster due to academic ineligibility, the Wolverines are off to a 4-0 start in Division I-A play. They defeated Dayton 10-1 on Thursday, Elko 2-1 on Friday and Spring Creek 2-0 on Saturday. Truckee is 6-2-3 overall.
In Thursday’s rout, junior Alex Colomenares scored four goals, while senior Nathan Ariza scored three goals and senior Thomas Arnstein had two. Aaron Hartman had two assists.
Elko gave Truckee a tougher game the next day.
After the contest went to half tied at 0, Colomenares struck first for the Wolverines before the Indians answered with a quick equalizer and Truckee regained the lead off of a penalty kick by Arnstein. All three goals were scored within a 10-minute span at the start of the second half.
Against Spring Creek, senior David Martinez gave the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the fifth minute. Arnstein added an insurance goal in the 79th minute as junior goalie Gabby Serna preserved the shutout.
