Truckee’s playoff-bound boys and girls soccer teams ended the regular season with league wins against Lowry this past Thursday.

The girls won 2-0 at home to clinch the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the Northern Division I-A regional championship. The boys won 5-1 on the road to secure the No. 3 seed in regionals.

The regional tournament, which includes the top six boys and girls teams, will be held at Adobe Middle School in Elko this Thursday through Saturday.

The Truckee girls (14-1-1) will open with a semifinal against the winner between fourth-seeded Fallon (8-4-4) and fifth-seeded Lowry (7-7-2) on Friday at noon. The girls regional championship is Saturday at 10 a.m.

Truckee’s defending state champion boys (10-4-2) will open with a quarterfinal against sixth-seeded Spring Creek (5-8-3) on Thursday at 2 p.m. The winner will face second-seeded Elko (12-1-3) in the semifinal round Friday at 2 p.m. The boys regional championship is Saturday at noon.

The top two boys and girls teams from the Northern and Southern regionals advance to the state championship, which will be held at South Tahoe on Nov. 13-14.

On Thursday, Truckee’s girls built a 2-0 halftime lead with a goal apiece by sophomores Olivia Vigano and Olivia Koster, who assisted each other’s scores. Sophomore goalie Izzy Abarno preserved the shutout, which was Truckee’s seventh in 16 league games.

Truckee’s boys led 3-0 at the half and added two more goals in the second frame. Junior Manuel Sarabia recorded a hat trick with three goals, and Oscar Ingnez and Jose Gonzalez each put in one. Gonzalez, Zack Barta and Hugo Hutierrez each had an assist. Sophomore goalie Benett Ariza allowed one goal while making six saves.
