The Truckee girls soccer team has proven it can win in cold weather.
In frigid conditions at Fernley on Tuesday, senior Kaylee Neill and junior Emma Warren scored two goals apiece to help lead the Wolverines to a 5-0 Division I-A victory over the Vaqueros.
The boys game in Truckee was postponed till Friday due to the snow.
Neill opened the scoring with a goal assisted by Karina Rivera in the 10th minute. Warren followed with the first of her two scores just one minute later, assisted by Marcelle Reynaud, while Warren extended the lead to 3-0 with a goal assisted by Tessa Manahan in the 27th minute.
Neil buried her second goal about six minutes into the second half, using an assist from Kayla Redner. Lynde Tucker scored the fifth and final goal assisted by Reynaud in the 62nd minute.
The playoff-bound Truckee girls, who improved to 12-2-1 in league, play at Sparks (2-12-0) on Saturday at 1 p.m. and host a makeup game against Fallon (11-2-2) on Thursday.
