Truckee is scheduled to host Incline on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Wolverines begin league play at home against rival Sparks next Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m.

The Truckee soccer team went 2-2 in the season-opening Howell Memorial Tournament at Galena this past Friday and Saturday.

The defending Division I-A champs got off to a rocky start against their large-school opponents on Friday, as they lost 5-0 to Bishop Gorman and 4-1 to host Galena.

Junior co-captain Manuel Sarabia scored Truckee’s one goal against Galena on a 25-yard free kick.

The Wolverines bounced back Saturday to defeat Faith Lutheran, 3-2, and McQueen, 5-1.

Against Faith Lutheran, Sarabia scored Truckee’s first goal on an assist from Alex Lopez in the 14th minute. Oscar Ingnez scored in the 21st minute, assisted by Sarabia, and Sarabia rounded out the scoring with a goal in the 48th minute.

In the McQueen game, Ingnez initiated the scoring in the 21st minute, assisted by Sarabia, who then scored off an assist from Zack Barta two minutes later.

Lopez added a third goal in the 26th minute and also rounded out Truckee’s first-half scoring in the 35th minute. Sarabia scored another goal 11 minutes into the second half.
