The Wolverines dropped both ends of their doubleheader at Fernley on Saturday by scores of 12-0 and 11-0.

The division-leading Vaqueros, undefeated in the Northern 3A at 12-0, dominated the Wolverines, allowing just a single hit in each game while pounding out four home runs.

After a two-hour delay before Game 1 due to wet field conditions, Truckee got off to a tough start as each batter struck out the first time through the lineup.

Stacy Brenes ultimately broke up the no-hitter with a single in the fourth, but that’s all the Wolverines would get.

Truckee pitcher Rachel Zissimos went four innings, yielding 13 hits and two walks while striking out two.

Game 2 picked up where the first game left off.

While the Wolverines were able to draw three walks, they again managed just a single hit, an infield single by Tracy Pearson.

Kati Murphy threw for the Wolverines, going 4 1/3 innings, giving up six hits and nine walks while striking out one.

The losses dropped the Wolverines to 5-10 in league and 9-15 overall.

Truckee will be fighting for the fourth and final Northern 3A playoff spot this week with Yerington, the other primary contender. On Wednesday, the Wolverines will host the Lions at 4 p.m., then travel to Yerington on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
