Truckee swimmers split against Manogue

It was a split decision last Saturday when the Truckee swim team took to the pool against Bishop Manogue.

The girls won162 to 70 while the boys lost 66 to 43.

This was Truckee’s last dual meet of the 2002 season and was an important for the girls because the win against Manogue tied their two teams league standings for first place. Due to the tie, it came down to points and the Truckee Ladies triumphed by 14 points, continuing their rein as league champs.

The final point total for the entire league season was Truckee 1339 and Manogue 1325.

The boys finished fourth in league behind Wooster, Bishop Manogue, and Churchill.

Still, both of the Wolverines’ squad will have an impressive number of swimmers attending the Regional Zone Championships this coming weekend at the Lombardi swimming pool at University of Nevada, Reno.

Numerous swimmers swam times this season that qualified them to attend Zones. They include Nichole Achey, Leslie Ajari, Wes Ajari, Kathryn Altieri, Aaron Browning, Lauren Browning, Lindsay Collin, Jessica Hooper, Shannon Lankenau, Kara LaPoint, Haley Long, John Pittenger, Jon Rogers, and Kate Rose.

This meet is a trials/finals meet with trials being held on Friday.

Swimmers making the top 16 go on to finals the following day in their individual events. At finals, the swimmers who place in the top five will go on to compete at the State Championships in Las Vegas.
