Truckee swims to win

Both of the Tahoe Truckee High School swim teams began their spring break on festive notes thanks to impressive victories over the visiting Wooster Colts last Saturday at Truckee.

The girls’ team improved to 5-0 with a 167-99 win over the Colts, while the boys’ upped their record to 4-1 thanks to a hard fought 89-84 victory.

Leading the team girls’ team with two first-place finishes each were Leslie Ajari (100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle) Lauren Browning, (200 IM and 100 Backstroke) and Lindsay Collin (100 Freestyle and 100 Breastroke).

Kara La Point also took first in the 500 Freestyle.

Both the boys’ and girls’ relay teams took first in the medley and freestyle relays as well.

This was also the last home meet for seniors Wesley Ajari, Shannon Lankenau, Natasha Heckendorn and Josh Burgess.

Lankenau took third in the 100 Backstroke and fourth in the 50 Freestyle, while Heckendorn swam a strong 100 Butterfly, finishing third.

Burgess placed fourth in the 5O Freestyle with a best time of 37.00.

The Wolverines travel to Incline on Friday to take on the Highlanders at 3 p.m.
