Truckee ultrarunners race Miwok 100K

A small contingent of Truckee runners made the trip to Marin County to compete in the Miwok 100K Trail Race this past Saturday.

Paul Sweeney finished 33rd overall, posting a time of 10 hours, 6 minutes and 51 seconds on the 100-kilometer course, which measures just over 62 miles.

Gretchen Brugman placed seventh among women and 49th overall with a time of 10:43:26, and Betsy Nye was 16th among women and 85 overall in 11:42:36.

A total of 350 runners started the race, with 287 finishing (82 percent).

Dave Mackey of Colorado won the overall, recording a time of 8:03:22, while Mike Wolfe (8:06:00) of Montana was second and Hal Koerner (8:06:55) of Oregon third.

In the women’s field, Pam Smith of Oregon placed first, and 20th overall, with a time of 9:39:57. She was trailed by Meghan Arbogast (9:45:35) and Kristin Moehl (9:55:56).
