Truckee volleyball goes 7-2 at Galena Tourney

The Truckee High volleyball team won seven straight matches after opening with two losses in the Galena Tournament this past Friday and Saturday.

The Wolverines, now 8-2 on the season, took first place in the King Division, or 13th overall out of 36 teams.

Truckee dropped its first two matches to Ashland (Ore.) and Nevada Union (Calif.), losing to Ashland in three sets, 25-22, 23-25, 13-15, and to Nevada Union in two sets, 20-25, 20-25.

The Wolverines bounced back to defeat Shasta (Calif.) 25-17, 25-18, Roseville (Calif.) 23-25, 25-23, 15-11, Red Bluff (Calif.) 25-15, 25-11, Leland (Calif.) 23-25, 25-22, 16-14, Santa Clara (Calif.) 19-25, 25-15, 15-10, Moapa Valley (Nev.) 25-15, 25-20, and St. Francis (Calif.) 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.

The Wolverines play a nonleague match at Douglas on Thursday at 6 p.m. and host the second annual Truckee Tournament on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Truckee then hosts Portola on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. and plays at Lowry on Sept. 19 to open Northern 3A League play.
