Truckee volleyball racks up All-League, All-State awards

In addition to their state runner-up trophy in 2008, the Wolverines were rewarded handsomely by 3A coaches for their individual efforts.Six Truckee players were voted by coaches from the Northern and Southern 3A to the All-State team. Four of those players made the first team, one was placed on the second team and one earned honorable mention recognition.The same six players were voted to the Northern 3A All-League team. Truckee head coach Nicole Annaloro was named All-League and All-State Coach of the Year.Truckee senior co-captains Callan Finney and Nikki Schneider made first team All-League and All-State at outside hitter, while senior Katie Murphy earned the same honor at middle blocker and junior Kaylee Waters as a libero. Senior Michelle Hoehn made the second team as a utility player and MaryAnn Nason was awarded honorable mention recognition as a libero.Yerington senior Kayla Lommori won the All-League and All-State Most Valuable Player award for the second consecutive year while her coach, Anna Aiazzi, was voted All-State Coach of the Year.Truckee, which finished 28-7 overall and 13-3 in the 3A, lost to Yerington for the second straight year in the 3A state championship. The Wolverines finished 1-3 against Yerington, splitting their two regular-season contests against the rival Lions.
