Truckee volleyball: Wolverines beat Virgin Valley to set up state championship against Yerington

The Truckee High volleyball team beat Virgin Valley in straight sets Friday to advance to the 3A state championship match in Las Vegas.

The Wolverines will face Yerington, which swept past Boulder City in its semifinal, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Yerington has beaten Truckee each of the past two years in the state championship match. But the Wolverines are 3-0 against the Lions this season, including a win in three games for the Northern 3A title last week in Truckee.

Truckee will enter the state championship match undefeated against the 3A, at 15-0, and 27-4 overall. Yerington is 12-3 against the 3A and 28-5 overall.
