Truckee volleyball | Wolverines face tough early slate

The Truckee volleyball team is off to a 3-5 start after competing in the large-school High Sierra Tournament in Reno and taking on Division I Douglas on Tuesday.

The Wolverines opened the High Sierra Tournament this past weekend with a 2-0 loss to Whitney (Rocklin). They followed with a win in two sets over Casa Roble (Orangevale), a 2-0 loss to Enterprise (Redding), a 2-0 loss to Nevada Union (Grass Valley), a 2-1 loss to Shasta (Redding), a 2-0 win over Merced, and a 2-0 win over Oakdale.

In its home opener Tuesday, Truckee fell in four games to Douglas, 19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 13-25.

Sophomore Maia Dvoracek recorded 12 kills, two blocks, 13 digs and 12 assists to lead the Truckee squad. Taylor Stevens added six kills, and Madison Haley had four kills, two blocks and 12 digs. Shelby Gendreau contributed 14 assists.

Truckee is scheduled to open Northern Division I-A play at Dayton (1-0) on Tuesday.
