Truckee wrestling | Tyler Curtis second in state at 182 pounds

Staff report

Tyler Curtis’ respectable state championship wrestling experience did not vary much from his showing at regionals.

Like at the Northern Division I-A regional tournament the week prior, the standout Truckee wrestler won his first two matches with relative ease in the 182-pound weight class to open the DI-A state championships in Reno this past Friday.

Curtis, a senior, then ran into a road block the following day in the championship match – just as he did at regionals – against Fernley’s Erik Wilson.

Wilson, who defeated Curtis 4-0 for the northern region title, won the rematch by a 6-2 decision.

Tyler finished the year 25-4 overall.
