Turkey Trot attracts 126 participants

In spite of subfreezing temperatures at the start of the race, 126 people participated in the 31st Turkey Trot Fun Run and Mashed Potato Mile ” a fundraiser for the Auburn Ski Club Junior Nordic program ” Saturday morning at Donner Lake.
The event raised approximately $900, according to Auburn Ski Club assistant Nordic director Karl Baer.
Starting from West End Beach at 10:30 a.m., 94 runners took on the 7-mile fun run around lake while 16 walked the course. Another 16 ran the Mashed Potato Mile.
Truckee’s August Brautigam, 21, crossed the finish line of the Turkey Trot first in 41:18. Jakub Benes of Davis finished second in 42:30 and Truckee High senior Spencer Wood was third in 43:40.
