UPickEm: Local winner nets perfect score

Paul Raymore
Sierra Sun

I knew it could happen, but I was skeptical if it would … A perfect score in the Sierra Sun’s UPickEm Pro Football Challenge.

But Truckee resident Melissa Pursel pulled it off this week with 14 correct picks out of 14 games.

Congratulations Melissa!

You definitely deserve your choice of gift certificates from our sponsors: The Blue Coyote Sports Bar and Grill (in Truckee and Squaw Valley) or Pete ‘n Peters (in Tahoe City).

Former Sun publisher Jody Poe took second place with 13 out of 14 correct picks, and Christopher Cattran and Dick Genest were right on her heels with 13 points (but lower scores in the tie-breaker).

Think you can match Melissa’s feat? There’s still plenty of time to get in the game and have a shot at the weekly prizes. Log on now at SierraSun.com/ProFootball.

Each week you pick the winner for each pro football game up to 15 minutes before it is scheduled to start. And each week the player with the most correct picks (see Web site for tie-breaker rules) wins his or her choice of a Blue Coyote or Pete ‘N Peters gift certificate, with second place taking the prize not selected by the winner.

In addition, we publish the names of the top 10 or so local players every Wednesday, meaning that even if you don’t win, at least you can brag if you beat your friends.

So what are you waiting for? Log on to http://www.SierraSun.com/ProFootball now and sign up.
