INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — You may drive the golf ball far, but you also need to focus on your setup and aim, or you’ll waste shots before you even get to the green. To do this you need to make sure you have the correct set up on the tee box.

Part of the set up that is most overlooked in golf strategy is which side of the tee box to tee up on. Doing this correctly will give you the best chance to find the fairway and avoid trouble.

If the right side of the fairway has out-of-bounds, it’s a good idea to tee up on the right side of the tee box because your angle away from that trouble is greater.

If you were to tee up on the left side, you would be aiming toward the out-of-bounds. This holds true if you are right-handed or left-handed.

If you tend to draw the ball and play right-handed, it would benefit you to tee up more to the left side of the tee box. This helps you aim more to the right side of the fairways, giving you more room for the right to left curve of the ball.

A fade player should tee up more on the right side of the tee box to allow more room for the left to right curve. The opposite is true for the left-handed player.

Following these tips will actually help you increase the size of your landing area in the fairway and increase your confidence which usually leads to more successful tee shots.
