Volleyball: Homecoming haunts strikers

LARA MULLIN, Sierra Sun

Homecoming week took its toll on the Truckee varsity volleyball team as coach Maggie Shane said, “The girls were really preoccupied and wiped out from studying for mid-terms.”

As a result, the Wolverines lost to Reno High on Oct. 25, in a game the team could have easily captured. Coming off this difficult loss, the Truckee varsity volleyball team rallied for their game against North Tahoe last Friday, only to lose in five games 9-15, 11-15, 18-16, 8-15.

Conflict arose at the Laker gym over a scheduling mistake, in which two games were booked simultaneously. This situation was a definite mental distraction for both teams throughout the course of play, yet the match was hard-fought on both sides.

The loss to rival North Tahoe was a particularly disappointing one for the Wolverines as the regular season ended Tuesday night against Dayton.
