Timothy Olson and Ellie Greenwood both set new course records en route to victories in a cool 39th annual Western States Endurance Run on Saturday. Truckee’s Rory Bosio was second among women in the 100-mile foot race from Squaw Valley to Auburn.

Olson, 28, from Ashland, Ore., recorded a time of 14 hours, 46 minutes and 44 seconds to easily eclipse the previous record of 15:07, which was set by Geoff Roes in 2010.

Greenwood, from Banff, Alberta, Canada, defended her women’s title and finished 14th overall in a time of 16:47:19. Bosio was the second woman and 21st overall finisher in 18:08:06.

Ryan Sandes was second overall while also breaking the old record in a time of 15:03:56. Nick Clark (15:44:09) was third, followed by Dave Mackey (15:53:36) and Ian Sharman (15:54:38).

Aliza Lapierre (18:18:29) was third among women, followed by Kristin Moehl (18:29:15) and Nikki Kimball (18:31:39).

The race returned to its original course after using rerouted portions of the Western States trail the previous two years due to snow.
