Winter X Games: Truckee’s Kimmy Fasani advances to slopestyle final

ASPEN ” Truckee High grad Kimmy Fasani was one of six riders to advance to Saturday’s women’s snowboard slopestyle final at the Winter X Games at Buttermilk after Friday’s two-run elimination round.

The event tests a rider’s ability on a variety of terrain; the course includes rails, hips, tabletops and various jumps, allowing competitors to combine big air and technical tricks in one run. Riders are judged on amplitude, execution, the difficulty of their line, landings and use of the course.

Fasani, who now rides out of Mammoth, earned a score of 63.66. Jenny Jones of Bristol, Great Britain took the top spot with 84.33 points. Bev Vuilleumier of Incline Village placed eighth in the elimination round, scoring 42.66 points.

Saturday’s finals in the event begin at 1 p.m.
