The Class 3A Truckee baseball team opened the season on Thursday, March 8, with a 27-4 road loss against Class 4A Reno.

The Wolverines (0-1, 0-0 Northern League) lost via the 10-run rule after four and a half innings of play.

With a home field still covered in snow, Truckee has been forced to conduct their practices in the high school gym. The lack of work on the field resulted in five errors over the course of four innings against Reno.

Center fielder Joel Estabrook led the Wolverines in the game with three RBIs. Catcher Derek Laferriere knocked in Truckee’s other run on the day. Shortstop Tyler Estabrook, second baseman Colin Just, and Tyler Ferrera accounted for the rest of the Wolverines five hits in the game.
