Wolverines wrap-ups: Girls golf Glow Ball fund-raiser

Sierra Sun staff reports

After gaining zero points in its third match of the season because it didn’t have enough players, the Truckee girls golf team got its third second-place finish of the season at North Tahoe on Sept. 17.

Truckee is now in fourth place, one point behind third-place Lowry, with four matches to go. The top three teams in the Northern 3A advance to the 3A state championship tournament.

At North Tahoe, Jennifer Womack shot 19 strokes better than her previous season-best and finished with a third-best individual score of 88.

Other Truckee scores: Katie Fischer 90, Renee Cardinali 96, Amy Watkins 108, Katy Jones 109, Ali Carroll 135.

On Saturday night, Sept. 25, the Truckee High School girls golf team will sponsor a Glow Ball Tournament fund-raiser at Northstar. It is a four-person scramble and costs $200 per team. Dinner (tri-tip or chicken) will be served at 6 p.m., with a raffle at 7:15, and the tournament begins at 7:30.

Make checks payable to TTHS Girls Golf and call coach Mike Merriman at 546-2079 to confirm reservations in advance. The first 72 players will play.
