Wrestlers prepare for duals

While six Tahoe-Truckee High School wrestlers were at the Carson Tournament last Saturday, the rest of the team traveled to Incline to compete against nine other teams in a cross-divisional tournament.

The Truckee squad ended up in fourth place, just two points behind third-place Douglas, while Galena took the first-place spot.

Individually, Truckee’s Danny Curtis took first-place in the171-pound division.

In second place were three TTHS wrestlers: Ian Wrenn (135), Sta’s Bolton (140) and Ray Marozckowski (160).

Neil Seelhoff (189), James Curtis (152), Andrew Fountain (145) and James White (130) each took third place in their respective weight classes.

“We’re actually doing better than I had hoped at the beginning of the season,” said Truckee coach Bob Liebentritt. “Especially with the guys as young as they are.”

Duals near

This week, the grapplers take to the mat at Battle Mountain (Friday, 3 p.m.) for Division 1 Duals.

“It will be tough for us to beat Battle Mountain and Spring Creek, but I think we should be really competitive against Fernley and ROP,” Liebentritt said.

The team is 14-6.
