Youth basketball season draws to a close

The following are results from the last week of play in the Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District’s youth basketball league.

Third/fourth grade league

DeScryver Concrete Construction 18 – Truckee River Glass 17: John DePew netted five points and Chris Knez had one as DeScryver nipped the Glass Men. Paris Tenorio led the Glass with 10.

Don Orme, DDS 39 – Truckee Tahoe Lumber 28: Cole Froelich scored 16 while Copper Doos, Will Akers, Lauren Cowden, Alexis Fallow and David Spegal also scored for the dentists. Lucas Smith had eight and Clayton McDonnell four for TTL.

Pizza Junction 32 – Leslie Heating 15: Jeremy Adams and Patrick Galvin combined for 23 points and Bryce Terrell added six as Pizza Junction finished with a perfect 10-0 record. Ben Baker and Drew Stewart had four each for Leslie Heating.

Fifth/sixth grade girls’ league

Quality Painting 16 – Incline #1 13: Leslie Ajari hit for seven points, Zoe Richards had four and Michelle Blas three to lead the Painters to the win.

Truckee Sports and Awards 13 – Incline #2 12: Kristen Hunt led the locals with four points, Erica Harvey had three and Jesse and Rene Racicot two each.

Fifth/sixth grade boys’ league

Robin Rice, Contractor 35 – Edward Jones Investments 31: Ben Tonon netted 12 points and Paul Tierney had 10, including six free throws as Robin Rice handed the Investors their only loss of the year. Jamison Maehler had 15 for Edward Jones.

Resort at Squaw Creek 26 – Truckee Sunrise Rotary 26: Mike Hoopingarner scored with one second left to help save a tie for the Resort. Hoopingarner had 14 points. Clayton Bena had 14 and Kevin Embertson seven for the Rotarians.

Seventh/eighth grade girls’ league

Sierra Mountain Mortgage 38 – Porter Simon 22: Heidi Andresen had 15 and Crysta Weed 13 for the first-place Sierra Mountain Mortgage. Jessica Tohlen, Iris Crowe and Laura Hood had six points apiece for Porter Simon.

Dr. Wang Sierra Smiles 25 – Airport Business Park 11: Jacquie Diaz led the way with 15 points and Katrina Linegar added five for the winners. Courtney Brown led the Pilots with six.

Cardinali Electrical and Plumbing Contractor 22 – Porter Simon 20: Three fourth-quarter free throws by Jessie Turner were the difference for Cardinali. Dana Brooks, Nicole Cardinali and Jamie Ramon added four each for the victors.

Laura Hood netted nine and Lindsey Hines played great defense for Porter Simon.

Seventh/eighth grade boys’ league

Fragrance Outlet 45 – Truckee Tahoe Mortuary 30: Ryan Campbell pounded inside for 19 points and J.R. Murphy and Mario Gonzalez added 12 each for the winners.

Jacob Bohart poured in 18 points for the mortuary while Shane Wright added four.

DMC Construction 41 – Poulin Steel Fabrication 22: Kevin Schlessinger had a game-high 14 points, Mike Acuff added eight and Iran Mazano tallied six for the 8-2 DMC team. Kevin Finn and Jeff Gardner had five each for the Men of Steel.

Ames Deli Mart 48 – Tahoe Forest Hospital 36: Jason Ames scored 16 of his season-high 27 points in the fourth quarter to pace the winners. Greg Gadsby added 15 for the Deli Mart. Michael Long had 16 for the hospital.
