The Lake Tahoe Grizzlies Pee Wee hockey team is headed to the International Finals in Ontario, Canada, after claiming the Pee Wee B title at the Pacific District U.S. Regional Silver Stick Tournament from Nov. 26-29.
The Grizzlie Pee Wees — made up of 14 players from the greater Reno/Tahoe area, including Sawyer Burley and Heath Fellows of Truckee — won five games in the four-day tournament, which was held at Sharks Ice in San Jose. They punched their ticket to the International Finals with a 6-1 win over San Francisco in the championship game.
With their International Finals berth secured, the Grizzlie Pee Wees are now working on raising funds to pay for the trip. The team has a GoFundMe website available at http://www.gofundme.com/herewecomecanada.
