TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Below are incidents taken from the Truckee Police Departmentand#8217;s daily press log from June 2-21, in addition to previously unrecorded incidents reported during the time span.
Burglary: At 6 a.m. items were reported stolen from a locked storage unit, no evidence of forced entry was found. Case inactive.
Vandalism: At 12 a.m. on Donner Pass Road two newspaper stands were vandalized in the downtown district.
Vehicle theft: At 12:01 p.m. on Donner Pass Road there was a theft of a vehicle which was later recovered on private property.
Handgun found: At 8:45 a.m. on Donner Pass Road a handgun, cleaning supplies and two cases of ammunition were found on the side of the road. A records check of the handgun came back empty and police are unable to locate any owner information to the found items.
Battery: At 11:48 a.m. on Donner Pass Road during a routine medical service call, two parties were found to have marks from a mutual domestic battery a week prior. Neither party requested further law enforcement involvement nor prosecution for the battery. Marks were photographed and the incident documented for review.
Petty theft: At 3:30 p.m. on Donner Pass Road a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Commercial burglary: At 9 p.m. on Donner Pass Road a school reported the removal of classroom doors and entry into a modular classroom by unknown suspects.
Deceased person: At 12:01 a.m. on Highway 89 South a man walked into a store and collapsed. He was pronounced dead at 12:35 p.m.
Auto burglary: At 12 p.m. on Donner Pass Road electronics and personal items were stolen from a vehicle.
Battery: At 12:30 p.m. on Donner Pass Road a suspect and victim was involved in a verbal confrontation which led to the suspect throwing coffee in the face of the victim while they were arguing. The suspect was arrested and booked.
Disorderly conduct: At 10:15 p.m. on Deerfield Drive police were notified that an intoxicated man had stolen food. Police located the man and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and was no longer able to care for himself. He was arrested and booked into Nevada County Sheriffand#8217;s Office Jail in Truckee. The reporting party told police they did not want to press charges for the food theft.
Assault with deadly weapon: At 6:55 p.m. on Riverpark Place a subject was caught vandalizing a town stop sign with a pickaxe. Two cars responded to the scene. When officers approached the subject he attempted to hack the officers with the axe.
Battery: At 11 p.m. on Kudu Court a woman called to report a physical fight between her and her husband. Officers determined the husband had been the primary aggressor and had injured his wife. The husband was arrested and booked into the Nevada County Sheriffand#8217;s Office Jail in Nevada City.
Shoplifting: At 3:30 p.m. on Donner Pass Road a loss prevention officer caught a subject attempting to steal merchandise from the store. The subject was cited and detained for shoplifting.
Shoplifting: At 7:38 p.m. on Donner Pass Road a loss prevention officer witnessed a subject attempting to steal from the their store and placed the subject under arrest. Subject was later cited and released.
Residential burglary: At 6:56 on Pioneer Trail a subject broke into a property attempting to obtain items he alleged to belonged to him. The subject was arrested by officers and a report was taken.
Battery: At 5:30 p.m. on Waters Way a husband slapped his wife injuring her eye. The suspect has not been located and the report has been forwarded to the Nevada County District Attorneyand#8217;s Office.
Vandalism: At 10:30 p.m. on Rue Ivy a vehicle was reported vandalized.
Bench Warrant: At 7 a.m. on Donner Pass Road a suspect was arrested on a local bench warrant after police found the suspect lying face down next to an elevator in downtown Truckee. No medical need was discovered for the suspect.
Court violation: At 4:59 p.m on Donner Pass Road a woman reported the father of her child had not returned the child home in violation of a court order.
Hazardous material: At 7:34 p.m. on Belford Place a residential gas line was struck during construction calling for dispatch of Truckee Fire Protection District and Southwest Gas Company to assist.
Disorderly conduct: At 3:40 p.m. on Donner Pass Road officers found a man displaying obvious signs of intoxication and standing in his own vomit. Officers arrested the subject for public intoxication.
Arson: At 4:19 p.m. on Levon Avenue Truckee Fire Protection District and police were dispatched to a vegetation fire. The fire was extinguished with the probably ignition source undetermined yet was estimated to be intentionally set.
Auto burglary: At 6:55 p.m. on Donner Pass Road $785 worth of personal items were stolen from a parked car, suspects breaking a window to obtain the items.
Vandalism: At 9:30 p.m. on Donner Pass Road two juveniles caused damage to a victimand#8217;s vehicle by throwing rocks into the roadway. The juveniles were located and the parents notified.
