AUBURN, Calif. – Placer County Library is welcoming readers of all ages back to its popular Winter Book Bingo program, running Dec. 1 through Jan. 31, 2026. This season’s theme, “Reading in a Winter Wonderland,” invites kids, teens and adults to explore new genres, discover hidden gems and enjoy fun winter reading challenges. Participants can pick up a Book Bingo card at any Placer County Library location or sign up online through the Beanstack app at http://placer.beanstack.org.

Each card includes 25 squares, featuring prompts such as reading a fantasy book, checking out a cookbook and trying a recipe, or selecting a book set “in a country you’d like to visit.” The center square is the traditional free space. Readers can track their progress by marking off completed squares. Completing any row earns a BINGO, and filling the entire board allows participants to earn prizes throughout the challenge. Additional activity-based prompts include trying out the library app, following the library on social media and taking a picture of a cozy place to read a book.

“The goal is to encourage adults to try something new or shake up their reading habits as we head into the new year, and to continue to encourage children to adopt a love for reading and sharpen their skills through the holiday season,” said Assistant Director of Library Services Sophie Bruno.

Winter Book Bingo is free, open to all ages and designed to inspire creativity, exploration and winter-long engagement with reading. For more information about Placer County Library, please visit the library’s website. Images of the Bingo card and program logo are also available for download.
