NEVADA CITY, Calif. – The Nevada County Registrar of Voters, Armando Salud-Ambriz, certified the results of the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

The final turnout for this election totaled 43,469 ballots cast, representing 57.2% of 76,204 registered voters in Nevada County.

Once again, Nevada County achieved one of the highest voter turnout rates in California, ranked among the top five counties. The only counties with higher voter turnout were Marin (60.78%), Amador (60.07%), Sierra (58.84%) and Mariposa (57.77%).

This included:

  • 40,071 vote-by-mail ballots
  • 1,038 in-person early voting ballots cast prior to Election Day
  • 2,255 in-person ballots cast on Election Day
  • 937 Sign, Scan, Go! ballots (28.5% of in-person voters, nearly triple the rate of who used it in
    November 2025)
  • 105 conditional/provisional voter registration ballots

As part of the post-election canvass, Nevada County Elections completed the state-required 1% manual tally audit, a process that compares hand-counted ballots from randomly selected precincts to the results tabulated by voting equipment. The audit confirmed that the machine-counted results matched the hand count, demonstrating the accuracy of the election results.

“Every election is a community effort,” said Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. “Thank you to the voters and election workers who helped make this election possible. We are proud to certify results that reflect the voices of Nevada County voters.”
