Martis Camp home hits market for $22 million
TRUCKEE, Calif. — One of Martis Camp’s homes has hit the market for the first time with a $22 million asking price.
Known as the Lookout House, the five-bedroom residence was designed by acclaimed Truckee architect Greg Faulkner and is built into the base of a three-million-year-old volcano. The home is meant to reflect Faulkner’s signature approach of blending modern architecture with the surrounding landscape.
“The house is in the site more than on it,” Faulkner said.
Completed in 2019, the residence originally included 7,800 square feet of heated living space before undergoing a 2025 renovation that expanded the home to approximately 9,000 square feet. Located at 9519 Wawona Court in Martis Camp, the property includes five bedrooms, 7.5 bathrooms and a 1,000-square-foot heated garage.
The private 2,177-acre luxury community near Lake Tahoe, Martis Camp, is known for its year-round recreational amenities, including private ski access to Northstar California Resort and the Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole golf course.
The home’s design draws heavily from the site’s volcanic geology and alpine surroundings. Visitors enter through a lava-inspired foyer framed by red-orange glass walls intended to evoke cooling magma. Floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home capture panoramic views of Martis Valley, nearby ski slopes and Lake Tahoe’s signature alpenglow.
Situated roughly 300 yards from the base of a ski run, the residence was designed for an active family seeking a close connection to the outdoors.
Wellness amenities include a Finnish sauna, steam room, hot and cold plunge pools inspired by Switzerland’s renowned Therme Vals, and a fully equipped fitness center. Entertainment spaces are equally extensive, featuring a golf simulator with a movable putting floor system, two movie theaters, a custom music listening room, two wine cellars and a tequila bar finished in custom Italian marble.
The home also incorporates family-oriented spaces, including a children’s playroom with a heated padded floor, climbing wall, monkey bars, swing and custom toy storage.

Designed for year-round mountain living, the property includes a heated driveway and roof, multiple outdoor patios, custom water features and nine fireplaces.
Faulkner founded Faulkner Architects in Truckee in 1998. His work has received international recognition, and in 2024 he was elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. He has also lectured at Stanford University and the University of Arizona and served on design juries at the University of California, Berkeley, and Arizona State University.
The home is listed by Martis Camp Realty.
