Missing hiker located near Little Truckee Summit

TRUCKEE, Calif. – A missing hiker has been found safe near the Truckee area. The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office reports that the missing hiker has been located following a coordinated multi-agency search effort in the Tahoe National Forest near the Little Truckee Summit.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office initiated a search after receiving the report Sunday afternoon and requested mutual aid resources.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team, the U.S. Forest Service – Tahoe National Forest, California Highway Patrol Air Operations, Washoe County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff’s RAVEN Helicopter, and the California Office of Emergency Services for their response and assistance.
“We are extremely grateful for the successful outcome of this incident, especially with forecasted overnight temperatures expected to drop significantly at higher elevations,” the office says.
