NORTHSTAR, Calif. — The ski runs may be free of snow, but they’re about to get busy again. Northstar California Resort will launch its summer season Friday, June 12, with the opening of its Mountain Bike Park and a full slate of outdoor activities.
The downhill bike park features more than 50 miles of purpose-built trails designed for riders of all skill levels. Opening day will also mark the debut of the newly rebuilt Livewire trail, one of the park’s iconic runs.
Beginning Friday, the Big Springs Gondola, Vista Express, and Zephyr Express lifts will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Additional operating days will be added on Mondays beginning June 29, while Friday evening lift hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. are scheduled to begin July 3.
In addition to mountain biking, the lifts provide access to scenic hiking trails, offering views of wildflowers, Lake Tahoe, and the surrounding Sierra Nevada. Scenic lift access is free throughout the summer for 2026-27 Epic Pass holders.
While the Mountain Bike Park remains a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts, resort officials say Northstar’s summer offerings extend well beyond the trails. Visitors can also enjoy golf at the resort’s 18-hole course, fly-fishing on a private lake, roller skating accompanied by live music, bocce ball, and a variety of community events throughout the season.
With the bike park now opening, Northstar’s summer operations are fully underway.
