Truckee gallery to showcase new wood-based art exhibition

TRUCKEE, Calif. — Piper J Gallery will open a new exhibition, “Rooted & Roaming,” featuring the wood-based art of Colorado artist Cie Hoover, on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The opening reception, scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m., coincides with the Truckee Art Walk and will give the public an opportunity to meet Hoover and view his work.

Hoover, who lives and works in Ouray, Colo., spent nearly a decade in the Nashville music industry before touring full-time for more than six years as half of the folk-rock duo You Knew Me When. After relocating to Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, he shifted his creative focus to visual art, using wood as his primary medium.

His work includes wall-mounted pieces, large-scale sculptures and public art installations throughout Colorado, as well as at the Buffalo Creek Art Center outside Lake Tahoe. Hoover is also represented by Fringe Gallery in Telluride, Colo., and maintains an ongoing artistic partnership with Wagner Skis.

Now coming to Truckee, The “Rooted & Roaming” exhibit explores his dual inspirations — a deep connection to the natural world and the roaming wildlife that shapes his work.

The opening reception is free and open to the public. Piper J Gallery is located at 10250 Donner Pass Road, Truckee.
