TRUCKEE, Calif. — Halloween songs by local Truckee songwriter Gordon Simons are being heard around the world this October, including airplay on America’s No. 1 Halloween radio station: HalloweenRadio.net.

The Internet station draws thousands of listeners every day, and is now playing six of the Tahoe Donner resident’s tunes in rotation.

“Getting our songs on Halloween Radio is a huge success for us,” Simons said. “Our music is getting worldwide exposure.”

Simons and his partner, Lane Cameron, along with some of Truckee and Reno’s most talented singers and musicians, team up to form the recording group: Simons & Cameron.

One of Truckee’s finest singer/guitar players, Paul Covarelli (Joe Mama), has appeared on several Simons & Cameron songs. They produce music for radio and TV, including Christmas and Halloween songs, jingles, pop songs, and also music videos.

In the past, their holiday songs have been featured on such shows as The Young and the Restless, ABC News, CBS News, and the Dr. Demento Show.

Gordon and Lane have done several radio interviews about their holiday music on stations such as “Hoss the Boss Radio” in Houston, and WCBS in New York. KOLO Channel 8 (ABC), in Reno, came to their studio and did a television news story about the pair.

Simons speaks highly of the people in his recording group.

“I work with some of the best musicians and singers in the world,” said Simons. “Our incredible saxophone player, Billy Slais, toured with Jefferson Starship, Cold Blood and Elvin Bishop. Lane played guitar and harmonica on Craig Chaquico and Mickey Thomas’ latest CDs. Paul Covarelli always rocks. We have some fantastic young singers too. Everyone is awesome.”

This Halloween, the Truckee songwriter is getting his most radio play in over 10 years of making music with Simons & Cameron. In addition to Halloween Radio, the band’s songs are playing on great stations like Truckee’s KTKE 101.5 FM, and Hotmix 106 out of Sacramento (www.Hotmix106.com). Simons & Cameron’s music also available at iTunes and Amazon.com.

Halloween Radio is very selective in the music it chooses to air. The 24-hour playlist includes songs by the Eagles, Santana, Frank Sinatra, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, The Who … and now Simons & Cameron. People can listen on computer and mobile devices at http://www.HalloweenRadio.net.

“It is a fantastic station with a lot of fun Halloween music for parties or just hanging out,” Simons said.

You can also hear and download Simons & Cameron songs at the band’s website at www.MonsterHalloweenParty.com.

The recording group is currently working on new song projects and is also preparing for the Christmas season. Simons just recorded a jingle for The Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe. He volunteers as a dog-walker in his spare time.
