Eight Truckee High athletes sign with colleges on National Signing Day
TRUCKEE, Calif. — On May 22, seven Truckee High School athletes officially signed their letters of intent to compete at the collegiate level during a midday ceremony held in the school’s Big Gym. Surrounded by coaches, family, and friends, the student-athletes committed to universities across the country in sports ranging from rowing and tennis to football and baseball.
Scarlett Fierro will be staying in California. She signed her letter of intent to play softball at Feather River College in Quincy. Jayna Palmer will join the University of Washington’s rowing program, while Logan Arata signed to play baseball at Eastern Oregon University. Football saw the largest number of signees: Joe Birnbaum is headed to the University of Nevada, Jace Estabrook to Eastern Oregon, Jackson Wicks to the University of Montana Western, and Ethan Stendell to South Dakota Mines. Rounding out the group, Minou Fazeli committed to play tennis at Pratt Institute in New York.
The signing ceremony marked a milestone moment for these athletes as they prepare to take their talents to the next level.
