CodeRED Service Disruption in Nevada County

Nevada County is one of twelve counties and six cities in California impacted by a recent CodeRED outage. CodeRED is the system used to send emergency alerts by phone call, text and email to residents who have opted in. CodeRED is working to restore functionality as quickly as possible.

The interruption does not impact 9-1-1 services.

In the event of an emergency, communications will continue without interruption through:

  • Wireless Emergency Alerts notifications to cellphones based on location
  • Emergency Alert System alerts to radio listeners and television viewers
  • Nevada County Office of Emergency Services and Sheriff’s Office social media and mobile app
  • County website updates at nevadacountyca.gov or readynevadacounty.gov
  • Trusted local media
  • Genasys Protect for evacuations and warnings
  • Hi-lo sirens and door- to- door notifications by Sheriff’s Office when necessary

The County will continue to monitor the outage. Residents are encouraged to learn more about available alert systems at ReadyNevadaCounty.org/EmergencyAlerts.
