INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. — Authorities in two states collaborated Friday to arrest a 32-year-old fugitive and three others suspected in recent burglaries on the North Shore.

Placer County Sheriff’s Office detectives had been investigating a rash of home and vehicle burglaries in the Incline Village and Kings Beach areas, leading them to the trail of William Jared Heizer, listed as one of Placer County’s 20 Most Wanted, according to the sheriff’s office.

At about 3 p.m. Friday, detectives teamed with Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies to enter a room at the Tahoe Biltmore casino and hotel in Crystal Bay, on the Nevada side, where Heizer was thought to be hiding.

While deputies discovered Heizer, 32, had fled, it was determined he may be accompanied by another wanted fugitive, Kate Elizabeth Emory.

Emory, 26, was located at the Tahoe Inn hotel a couple blocks west off Highway 28 on the California side, and was arrested without incident.

Officers also arrested Kyle Andrew Bumgarner, 29, who was with Emory, on suspicion of possessing burglary tools and drug paraphernalia.

Detectives then learned Heizer was possibly hiding at a timeshare condo in Incline, according to PCSO.

Authorities from both states located Heizer at the location, and he was arrested without incident and booked into the Washoe County Jail on a Placer County warrant as a fugitive from justice. According to the county, Heizer was wanted for stealing cars.

Additionally, Brandon Paul Mason, 24, an alleged friend of Heizer, was arrested and also was booked on a fugitive warrant.

On Tuesday, PCSO Sgt. Dave Hunt said while no additional charges had yet been filed, “there’s no doubt” some or all of the suspects were involved with the recent burglaries.

“In one form or another, they either know about the burgs, or know others who are involved … we’re not getting the full story from them,” Hunt said.

It was not immediately clear if any of the suspects had an attorney.

As of last week, detectives were investigating eight home burglaries and as many as 12 vehicle burglaries in Incline since Nov. 1.

Similar crimes had been happening in surrounding communities as well.
