Gatekeepers Museum takes a look at past Fourth of July
TAHOE CITY, Calif. – As part of the Gatekeepers Museum’s history series, historians resurfaced a July 11, 1975 article which ran in the Tahoe World. The article looks at a non-sponsored fireworks show in Tahoe City.
“Tahoe City did have a non-sponsered fireworks show this year, however, thanks to efforts of local businessmen Don Snyder, Basil Kehoe, Jim Williamson and others… including a financial boost from the Tahoe City Volunteer Fire Department. At a cost of $500, the Tahoe City group put on a 45-minute show off Lake Forest that attracted large throngs of viewers from Dollar Point to Sunnyside…including the familiar armada of boats offshore.
The volunteer firemen are reportedly hopeful of resuming their traditional display next year, and the handful of residents who came up with the money for last Friday night·s fine display deserve the
heartfelt thanks of the community.”
The article went on to ask for donations for the 1976 fireworks show.
