Kings Beach man killed in head-on crash on State Route 267
A head-on crash on State Route 267 claimed the life of a Kings Beach man on Saturday, Jan. 13, the California Highway Patrol Truckee Office said.
Christopher Anderson, 35, was headed northbound in a Subaru when a southbound Audi driven by an alleged drunken motorist struck his vehicle. Anderson was a U10 Alpine Race Coach at Northstar California Resort.
The alleged drunken driver was identified as Edgar Delgado, 21, of Tahoe Vista. The incident happened at about 7 a.m.
Prior to the collision, the vehicle driven by Delgado crossed over double yellow lines, and then sideswiped a Toyota Sport Utility Vehicle before continuing further into the northbound lane and hitting the Subaru.
The driver of the Toyota SUV was not injured. Delgado was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash.
“Another tragic accident on a local highway, involving a local. When it comes to driving under the influence, it should never be done,” said Officer Pete Mann, who is the public information officer for the CHP Truckee Office.
“We know people are going to go out and have a good time, but make sure you make the appropriate efforts before. Take a bus, use a ride sharing program, or just a good old fashion designated driver.”
The crash occurred south of a three-car collision that killed Noelle Nelson, 62, of Truckee, on Dec. 30.
As a result of the two incidents, Truckee CHP has engaged in a zero policy notice on Highway 267. All infractions will be ticketed.
