Snow day! School canceled, more white stuff on the way

LAKE TAHOE/TRUCKEE ” Truckee Tahoe Unified School District closed on Friday due to heavy winds and snow.

More than 3 inches of snow fell in the Truckee-Tahoe region Thursday night, with a chance of up to a foot on Friday.

Heavy winds are blowing snow, and wind advisories are in place at area resorts.



The National Weather Service in Reno reported 2 to 3 inches most places throughout the region on Friday morning.

Roads are snowpacked and slippery. One accident on Interstate 80 was blocking some traffic west of Truckee early in the morning, although it was expected to be cleared quickly.
