Court dates set for stabbing suspect
Two pretrial conferences have been set for the woman accused of attempting to murder her husband near a Hilltop apartment complex Feb. 7.
Salina Ahtye Crawford, 25 of San Francisco, was taken to Nevada County Jail in Truckee after investigators concluded she stabbed her husband, 36-year-old Brett Anthony Crawford, with a 4-inch dirk (a straight-bladed dagger) in a Hilltop area parking lot Saturday afternoon, according to Truckee Police Department reports.
The conferences have been set for Feb. 17 and March 2 in the Truckee division of Nevada County Superior Court.
Truckee police, in conjunction with authorities in San Francisco, are conducting a background investigation on the Crawfords, said Truckee police interim Cmdr. Dave Dohn.
It is unclear why the Crawfords were in Truckee, and investigators believe the couple was staying in a Hilltop apartment complex, said Dohn.
After the altercation, the suspect drove her husband to Tahoe Forest Hospital where he received emergency surgery, police said. Brett Crawford is currently in stable condition at Washoe Medical Center.
