A 17-year-old Reno boy is missing after falling off a boat at Boca Reservoir on Sunday.

As the victim, who’s name has not been released, sat in the rear of the boat, it apparently hit a wave or wake and he fell overboard, said Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal. The victim was not wearing a flotation device.

A regional dive team consisting of members of the Truckee Fire Department, Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and the Truckee Police Department were training nearby when they received the call Sunday. Divers and boats conducted an extensive search of the area with no results, Royal said. The search was suspended at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday due to failing light and diver fatigue.

On Monday morning, rescue divers continued searching an underwater creek bed approximately 50 feet deep. The water depth where the victim fell into the lake was approximated to be 15 feet, according to Sgt. Frank Koehler, incident commander for the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office.
